Prime Day is just seven days away, but that doesn't prevent Amazon from running some early deals on some of its products and services.

Amazon Australia is providing buyers a free Echo Dot with purchases of its standard Echo smart speaker ($149) - a promotion which is valid until its inaugural Prime Day on July 16th. The newest deal that Amazon Prime members can take advantage of is aimed at music lovers.

Gearing up for Amazon's Prime Day 2018 - which begins July 16th at 3 p.m. ET and last for 36 hours - the company started rolling out countdown deals on Monday.

Amazon Prime Day is expected to provide up to 40 per cent discounts on mobiles and accessories with to 50 per cent off on electronic goods and up to 70 per cent discount for home and outdoor items. Until a couple of weeks ago, membership cost Rs 999 a year.

Amazon would add five such fulfilment centres - warehouses where stuffs are stored, sorted and transported to destinations - by end of this year.

This year's deals include discounts on hot electronics, freebies for subscribers of services under the Amazon umbrella like Twitch and Kindle, and just about everything else you can imagine.

"Allahabad and Coimbatore are top performing markets for Amazon Prime in the North and South regions, respectively", said Palaniappan.

Prime Day deals will be identified by a badge, which reads "Prime Day deal" on a blue background.

Notably, products avaialble on the Prime Now app qualify for a fast delivery time of 2 hours for Prime members between 6 AM to Midnight.
