LeBron James is already the biggest star of his generation, and he followed a familiar path to Los Angeles' bright lights when he chose to sign with the Lakers as a free agent. First, it is a bit surprising how quickly the Lakers agreed to terms with Lance Stephenson (one year, $4.5 million) and JaVale McGee (one year, veteran's minimum) - two players who have talent but are more often in the news for making silly mistakes rather than highlight worthy plays. They have zero chance to challenge the Warriors for supremacy in the West, especially after GSW's latest blockbuster signing (more on that later).

ESPN's Brian Windhorst and Ramona Shelburne provided an in-depth look at how Magic Johnson and the Lakers' front office landed James, and apparently they pitched the 33-year-old on the idea of changing the way he plays.

LaVar Ball called LeBron James the "best player in the game", and said his son Lonzo would make a good sidekick when the two team up for the LA Lakers next season.

Three hours after the jerseys went live, Fanatics had already seen a 600% spike in sales compared to the same period when James announced his return to the Cavaliers before the 2014 National Basketball Association season, the retailer said. Through scheduling meetings and signing key pieces to surround new superstar LeBron James, the Laker legend is showing he means business.

But at least the worst half-decade in franchise history should become a bad memory for Lakers fans, who seethed through five irrelevant seasons highlighted mostly by Bryant's retirement tour.

SpringHill's presence has already been felt on TV screens with the Mike O'Malley-created comedy "Survivor's Remorse", which was canceled previous year after four seasons on Starz. Lonzo's going to get along with anybody he plays with. "He's just got that special gift".

During the 2017-18 season, James averaged 27.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game and shot at 50 percent on the field.

It's hilarious to watch so-called Lakers fans publicly pondering whether they can still support the team with James on board. They have added a lot of smart pieces, playoff experience wise and have young players that LeBron can rely on.

The Lakers were reportedly targetting New Orleans free agent centre DeMarcus Cousins but he is now expected to sign with the defending champion Golden State Warriors.
