At the time of publishing, if you visit this Microsoft store page, you'll see Shenmue I & Shenmue II listed as releasing on 21st August 2018. They haven't done much in terms of remastering the game but you will have the option to use Japanese or English audio, the choice to use classic or modern control options, scalable screen resolution, and an updated interface.

The announcement from SEGA comes very shortly after a listing from Microsoft let the release date slip a bit early, but now that SEGA has made an official announcement, it appears we won't have to wait long at all until the collection is in our hands this summer.

Shenmue and Shenmue II were finally announced as coming to the Xbox One a few months ago at Tokyo Sega FES 2018.

The games will be available digitally of course, but Sega indicated that it would also be releasing boxed versions as well.

Interestingly, however, the tweet also contained a supposed release date for Ryo to come roundhouse-kicking back into your life, with the classic titles apparently launching on August 20.

Never mind Shenmue III, for years even the prospect of a remaster of the original games has seemed impossible.

Likewise, for "technical reasons" Sega has chosen to port Shenmue 2's Xbox iteration-as opposed to its Dreamcast variant.
