"Unfortunately, we must increase the price of our multichannel plans to keep pace with rising business costs and enable us to continue offering a better way to watch the best in live sports, entertainment, and news", Dwayne Benefield, VP, head of PlayStation Vue, wrote in a blog post announcing the new pricing.

PlayStation Vue's new prices take effect on July 24 while DirecTV Now customers will see their increase on July 26. These streaming TV services go for a substantially lower cost than a traditional cable package.

DirecTV Now's price will go up by $5 per month starting August 1.

The company also recently unveiled an Unlimited & More wireless plan at $70 a month. "To continue delivering the best possible streaming experience for both new and existing customers, we're bringing the cost of this service in line with the market-which starts at a $40 price point", said the virtual pay TV service's operator, AT&T, in a statement to Cord Cutters, which broke the story.

The $5 increase will affect all DirecTV Now tiers except for a Spanish-language TV package, AT&T told Ars.

Are you a subscriber to either of these streaming TV services?

"We vow to continue providing exceptional service to our customers, with plans to add more broadcast stations and content that resonates with fans, as well as ongoing feature enhancements".

It offers four different channel lineups, all of which include networks like AMC, CNBC, CNN, Discovery, Disney, ESPN, HGTV, Food Network FX, TLC, TNT and others.

Current subscribers won't see the new price reflected in their bills until after July 31st, but everyone will be paying $5 more starting at the end of the month. Vue's standalone channels and add-ons are not affected by the price increases.
