According to the U.S. News & World Report, CHW is among the top 50 in Cancer, Cardiology and Heart Surgery, Diabetes and Endocrine, Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, Nephrology, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, and Pulmonary.

Johnese Spisso, president of UCLA Health and CEO of UCLA Hospital System, said: "This recognition of UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital is a testament to the commitment and teamwork of our skilled physicians, nurses, therapists and other health care professionals who put patients first and collaborate to provide exceptional care".

Six specialties at the children's hospital made the list, which is more than in years past. It maintains its spot atop of the U.S. News honor roll, a distinction granted to hospitals that rank highly among 10 pediatric specialities. "This is more than a lovely, new building with extraordinary technology and amenities for our patients, families and our staff".

U.S. News introduced the Best Children's Hospitals rankings in 2007 to help families with children that have rare or life-threatening illnesses find the best medical care.

The full rankings and methodology are available at USnews.com. They are the only comprehensive source of quality-related information on USA pediatric hospitals.

U.S. News & World Report has ranked the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital in four specialties in their list of 2018-2019 Best Children's Hospitals rankings.

Texas Children's Hospital in Houston retained fourth place while Washington, D.C.'s Children's National Medical Center leaped from ninth to fifth place. Children's relies on generous donors to deliver specialized care for families in need, extend health care services to the community, and pursue research that promises to transform pediatric medicine.
