Indeed, Fallen Kingdom is now tracking to open in the $130 million to $140 million range, which taken separately is pretty great.

In the weeks leading up to the film's release, Pratt has been taking his fans along for the promotional ride on his Instagram. The film now sits at a bleak 55 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the score accounting for 99 "fresh" and 81 "rotten" reviews. At 600 locations today, starting at 3:30PM local time, Jurassic World double features were held. A few of these hybrid animals are presumably shipped off to new owners, but the benevolent humans, led by (Owen) Chris Pratt and (Claire) Bryce Dallas Howard, set off a chain of events that lead to the remaining dinos running free into the world.

J.A. Bayona directed from a script by "Jurassic World" helmer Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly. It's the fifth instalment in the franchise, and follows 2015's mega-hit Jurassic World.

"Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom's" earning potential may be held down by the second weekend of Disney-Pixar's "Incredibles 2", which is pegged to earn another $75 million to $90 million in North America. This made for the biggest opening of any animated movie in history, and the eighth best debut overall.

Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst with comScore, noted that the overall 2018 domestic box office is up by 5.9%, to $5.63 billion, as of June 20.

More good news to soften the blow of Fallen Kingdom not living up to the original Jurassic World: it has no box office competition, leaving film fans to focus exclusively on the sequel, thus potentially boosting the amount of cash it will take home.
