The NBA draft is less than a week away, and teams scheduled workouts with the top prospects and draft preparations are entering its final stages. He woke up Thursday feeling muscle spasms.

Porter dropping to the late lottery would be a noteworthy turn of events for a player rated so highly in his high school class.

The NBA draft will be held on Thursday, June 21.

But back surgery cost him nearly his entire freshman season. Porter was cleared to play in March and participated in two games for Missouri, shooting 9-for-29 from the field. Of course, that's changed - slightly.

Despite his lack of playing time, Porter is expected to be one of the first seven players selected in the draft, with some reports suggesting the Sacramento Kings are considering him with the #2 overall pick.

For what it's worth, the early returns sound positive - although the postponement of a second workout because of a hip strain is obviously concerning. All three of those teams draft inside the top five. They eventually spread the results, which Givony reports were "encouraging", around the league.

Porter is a versatile, 6-foot-11 wing who, in his best-case scenario, can splash jumpers with range out to the 3-point line, guard and take defenders off the dribble.
