President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment America Shawn Layden mentioned during the presentation's livestream that a new game plus mode was one feature that the community has requested since the game's launch.

God of War's "New Game+" mode will allow players to start over the game's story after completion. The update wasn't given an ETA beyond it being made available through an upcoming patch, but you'd expect to see this sooner rather than later.

Fans demanded it and Sony Santa Monica aims to please. As of right now if you want to start a new game no progress carries over from previous playthroughs. Previously, the developer demonstrated a commitment to their title with the recently implemented photo mode.

"Have you ever imagined that first test of strength defying battle with Baldur while adorning the Valkyrie Armour on Kratos?" That will also be possible, and quite frankly, you may need it, New Game+ won't just be a sunny stroll through Midgard. God of War 1 and 3 both offered the option to play through the game again, just in different costumes. You can with New Game+.

For now, there is no release date announced for the game mode.
