Today is primary election day in Virginia (polls are open from 6 am to 7 pm; vote at your regular polling location).

In the Second Congressional District, incumbent Republican Rep. Scott Taylor will face the victor of the Democratic primary between former U.S. Navy commander Elaine Luria and schoolteacher Karen Mallard.

People are choosing who will run to represent the commonwealth in nine congressional districts, but, so far, not many people have showed up to the polls in some areas on Tuesday, June 12.

Before casting a ballot, Virginia voters in the primary election must declare whether they want a Republican or Democratic ballot.

Andrew Cochran is the General Registrar in the City of Roanoke. Elections in Maine, Nevada, North Dakota, South Carolina, and Virginia will choose Republicans and Democrats to face off in November. "Voters will be asked to tell us which one they wish to vote, so that we can assign them the correct ballot".

It's your chance to decide who will face off in the 2018 Midterm elections this November. But this year, Democrats are poised to finally make that jump.

In District One, which includes Carolina County, Democrats Edwin Santana, John Suddarth and Vangie Williams are running for the nomination to face Republican incumbent Rob Wittman.

Also worth considering? There are 458,278 more registered voters in the Palmetto State than there were eight years ago, which means we could be looking at historically low turnout on Tuesday. He ultimately voted for a GOP replacement measure, a decision that Rosen will try to exploit in a year when health care is one of the top issues with voters. Arrington, now a state representative, is challenging Sanford for the 1st Congressional District seat.

Florence attorney Marguerite Willis, who has said she was driven into the race by "the racist, sexist president of the United States", has argued that a woman is needed to take on the good-old-boy network and fight for better lives for women and the poor.

Nevada's Senate primary became much less interesting when businessman Danny Tarkanian was persuaded by Trump to end his challenge to Republican incumbent Sen. The front-runner is Elaine Luria, a Navy veteran and businesswoman who's been endorsed by the party.

In North Dakota and Nevada, voters will set the stage for two of the most competitive U.S. Senate races in November, when Democrats must pick up two seats to capture a Senate majority.

In Nevada, Democrats face a contentious primary that could cost them the victory in November. The victor will challenge GOP Representative Dave Brat, who is seen as potentially vulnerable.

U.S. House - Virginia 10th District: Northern Virginians will be watching closely as Incumbent-Rep.

Friedman, who said she chose to run for office in part because Trump "scared my kids", said potential Democrat-led impeachment proceedings in the House would be "one of the most serious moments in our nation's history", but wouldn't commit to voting for impeachment without reviewing any impeachment articles.

In Maine, where Trump lost by 3 points in 2016, many Republicans and Democrats are running to replace Gov. Paul LePage (R-Nev.).
