Monday morning, they made it official with an announcement via social media announcing the b stands for burgers.
For what it's worth, the name change is reportedly temporary and only being done in an effort to promote the chain's new burger line.
The restaurant formerly known as the International House of Pancakes, or IHOP, has changed its name to IHOb - the International House of Burgers.
"Dear Internet, we abbreciate your batience", the company said on Monday. In fact, if IHOb isn't putting a burger between two fluffy buttermilk pancakes, it's missing out on a golden marketing opportunity.
Big Brunch: Hickory-smoked bacon, fried egg, potato, American cheese and a "delicious new signature burger sauce".
How permanent is the name change?
Burgers. The "B" is for Burgers. On its website, the company featured a countdown clock for when the "b" would be revealed.
IHOb is offering special deals on the new burgers included on its menu for a limited time. Fast-food chain Whataburger chimed in with, "As much as we love our pancakes, we'd never change our name to Whatapancake".
The restaurant chain is adding what it calls "Ultimate Steakburgers" to its menus.
"Burgers so burgerin' good, we changed our name to IHOb".
"@IHOb so are you still going to have pancakes and breakfast???".
