But Switch users will have a huge helping hand in the form of Nintendo's intergalactic hero, Fox McCloud and the Star Fox team, coming exclusively to the Switch edition.

Star Fox will be a playable character in the game Starlink: Battle for Atlas on the Nintendo Switch along with his trusty Arwing space ship, Ubisoft announced during its E3 conference Monday.

Starlink is set to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch on October 16.

"We are excited to give players a deeper look at Starlink: Battle for Atlas, the first all-new property from Ubisoft Toronto", said the studio's creative director, Laurent Malville. Featuring special guest pilot Fox McCloud and his Arwing.

In related news, online listings for the game have revealed a download of 15GB via a wireless connection will be required in order to play, even if you own a physical copy.

Starlink Battle for Atlas was officially announced during E3 2017.
