Robert De Niro introduced a performance by Bruce Springsteen at the 72nd annual Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall, Sunday, in NY. Director David Cromer related that musical's themes to the mental health crisis evidenced by recent high-profile suicides, urging those overwhelmed by loneliness and disconnection to reach out for help. The original production actually won Kushner two Tonys for Best Play: for part one, "Millennium Approaches" (1993), and then part two, "Perestroika" (1994).

"We are all scared, and we all belong", Garfield said, accepting his award, with a Twitter-ready declaration. Garfield said during his acceptance speech, referencing the Supreme Court's decision to side with a Colorado baker who refused to make a cake for a same-sex couple.

Defending DeNiro, another said: "Want to criticize Robert DeNiro?" Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and actress Chita Rivera were given the 2018 Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre.

"The Band's Visit", for which Mr. Stachel won best featured actor at Radio City Music Hall in NY, was perhaps the ideal vehicle to deliver him to fame. "People stop believing what the media tells them when they see media superstars say things like 'Let the economy fail'".

This was Salonga's fourth time on the Tony stage.

"Thanks for making me so welcome on your block", Springsteen said, accepting his award for his phenomenally successful solo show. We asked fans to rank the musical performances from the night, including songs from hosts Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles, as well as a moving tribute to the victims of the Parkland school shooting. The Band's Visit would go on to win the Tony for Best Musical. Hit us up onTwitter,Facebook, orInstagram, or leave your comments below. So, which number had audiences at home laughing/cheering/crying/snotting the most? "This one's for the loser inside of you".

Sunday night's ceremony was a refreshing antidote to eyerolls that may have greeted the nominations, led by splashy commercial titles like Mean Girls and SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical. The revival of Angels in America had 11 and the two-part play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child had 10.

Shalhoub, best known for his role on Monk, exited The Band's Visit earlier this year.
