She will also serve five years concurrently on a charge of federal custody interference.

Shanara Mobley, who was just 16 years old when she gave birth to Kamiyah, did not comment as she left the courthouse after the sentencing Friday.

The baby was only hours old when a woman, dressed as a nurse in a flowered smock and green hospital trousers, abducted her from her mother's room, according to the 1998 incident report. She said she was in an abusive relationship at the time and suffering from depression. "We can only ask that everyone respect her privacy, give her time to take things in, and continue to pray for the well-being of each and every person whose life has been touched by this nearly 20-year chain of events". "It's a very sad case and many people have suffered, including Ms. Williams", Circuit Judge Marianne Aho said just before announcing the sentence. Peoples-Waters said she estimates Williams will serve 14 years minus her time served.

'The family in this case suffered not knowing what happened to their child for approximately 18 years'.

After receiving tips that Kamiyah was alive and living in SC, detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office traveled to SC and with police there, arrested Gloria Williams at her home in Walterboro, where she lived with her children. She used fraudulent documents to raise the child as Alexis Manigo in SC.

Court documents showed that Kamiyah may have known about her hidden past for months before Williams' arrest.

Authorities found Mobley through tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Since the discovery, Kamiyah has reconnected with her birth parents, Shanara Mobley and Craig Aiken, but has professed sadness that the only mother she ever knew faces years in a prison cell.

Kamiyah has spent time with her biological parents since then, but still supports the only mother she knew. The state had asked for 22 years in prison, the maximum under a prearranged sentence agreement. "I am your mother", she cried out in a downtown Jacksonville court during a hearing in May, News 4 Jax reported. "I believe now that this is over we can continue on our journey as healing together as a family and supporting my daughter with her decision making".

Kamiyah chose not to attend the sentence announcement of the woman who raised her.

Gloria Williams is accused of kidnapping newborn Kamiyah Mobleyin 1998. In order to build a relationship with her child, Mobley wants to make sure Williams won't be close by. After the loss of her pregnancy, she drove to Jacksonville from SC.

"I felt like I was on autopilot. My life was out of control, I lost everything", she said.
