A Memphis, Tennessee grandmother has been arrested after video surfaced (see below) of her transporting two young children in pet kennels inside her vehicle.

WMC reported that Leimome Cheeks, 62, of Memphis, was charged with two counts of child endangerment, which carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison if convicted. According to an affidavit, Cheeks drove the kids from Whitehaven to Collierville, then to Downtown Memphis in 95 degree heat.

Facebook Leimome Cheeks is being charged with child endangerment after allegedly locking two children in dog kennels in the trunk of her SUV.

The children, ages seven and eight, were questioned by police following their grandmother's arrest.

They said she admitted to driving from Whitehaven to Collierville with her two grandchildren who sat in kennels in the back of her truck, reports CBS affiliate WREG-TV of Memphis.

The bystander, who asked to remain anonymous, sent the video to Memphis Police. "Wow", neighbor Skylark Blake said.

"It's shocking, it really is". She seems like a nice lady.

"I think she needs some help". WATN said it attempted to contact Cheeks at her home over the weekend, but no one answered the door.

"I mean it could be an honest mistake".

The little girl can be seen getting out of the cage.

Strangely enough, there is little information available on the relations between Cheeks and the children, aged 7 and 8-years-old.

Cheeks is expected to appear in court Monday at 9 a.m.
