And when Cohen point-blank asked if there was a "possibility" of Chopra dating Jonas in the future, she dodged the question, exclaiming, "Listen, these questions on this show".

The episode which aired on June 1 caused a storm on social media, with fans questioning how Priyanka Chopra, an Indian, could even agree to be a part of the controversial plot.

Many Indian fans were outraged by the show's story and attacked her online. Chopra said she was "saddened and sorry that some sentiments have been hurt" by the episode.

"That was not and would never be my intention", she added. I sincerely apologize. I am a proud Indian, and that will never change'.

They continued: "Quantico is a work of fiction. It was certainly not our intention to offend anyone", it continued.

A recent episode of the spy thriller showed the main character, played by Ms Chopra, thwarting a plot hatched by Hindus ahead of a summit on Kashmir.

Others called on the government to black out the scene where Chopra, who stars as an Federal Bureau of Investigation agent in the series, holds up sacred Hindu prayer beads as evidence that the plotter in the episode, planning to detonate a nuclear bomb in NY, was an Indian nationalist.

ABC said it pulled the episode before it could air in India (it aired in the US on June 1).

"I did a talk a year ago on Hollywood and Propaganda, specifically how Muslims are treated in film", she stated.

Quantico is wrapping up its third and final season.

Chopra, the face of the show - and a high-profile figure who has made the rare, successful crossover from Indian cinema to Hollywood - was targeted for not doing more after seeing the script.

ABC released its own statement on the controversy, apologizing if the fictional storyline offended anyone. Soon, the channel (ABC) and the actress received a lot of flak for allegedly portraying Indians in the wrong light.
