"North Dakota Powerball players have had some pretty good luck in 2018", said Randy Miller, director of the North Dakota Lottery, in a statement.

"I scanned the first ticket". "I think your machine isn't working".

Lottery officials said Souami waited a day before he checked the numbers at another location that happened to be a lottery retailer.

The cashier immediately said "Oh my God", after scanning the ticket, Souami said.

"My heart, it was just beating beating, beating", he told reporters.

"What do you mean by, 'Oh my God?'" he asked her.

Souami, who is a married father of four, came to the United States in 1996.

The winning numbers for the drawing were: 03, 06, 09, 17, and 56, while the Powerball was 25 and the Multiplier number was 3.

A $2 ticket gives you a one in 292.2 million chance at joining the hall of Powerball champions.

It wasn't known Thursday if the victor had chose to claim the lump sum or take their winnings over time.

According to the 55-year-old account, he stopped at a 7-Eleven to check his tickets when he discovered he won.

"I have to take care of them", he told ABC.

This marks the second major lottery win in New Jersey this year.

The first things he plans to do with winnings are pay to pay off his college loans, pay for his daughter to go to college next year and pay off his home, which he had just refinanced and received the check for last week. In March, a Vernon resident won the $533 million Mega Millions prize.
