It is the same Redmi S2 launched recently in China.

Xiaomi has today announced the launch of its latest selfie-centric smartphone, the Redmi Y2, in India.

A Xiaomi smartphone that does not have a notch has been listed with three model numbers.

Xiaomi also has carried Auto HDR and AI portrait selfie from its leading mid-range phone, the Redmi Note 5 Pro, to the Redmi Y2. The front camera on the device has a 16MP sensor under a five-element 79.8 degree wide angle lens with an aperture of f/2.0.

The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 features a 5.99-inch HD+ display that runs at a resolution of 1440×720 pixels, and an aspect ratio of 18:9.

The rear camera is 12MP+20MP with the 12MP sensor sporting f/1.75 aperture and AI features, while the 20MP sensor has f/1.8 aperture. That said, it seems that the brand is stuck with the Snapdragon 625 processor lot as we have seen a lot of devices off lately that comes with the same processor. Note, budget smartphone is equipped with two main cameras with matrices 20 and 12 megapixels, respectively. For processing, the phone powered by the Snapdragon 625 chipset, while the Adreno 506 GPU handles the graphics. Unlike the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the Redmi Y2 has a full metal back panel with a different design for the Antenna lines. For connectivity, the phone has a dedicated dual-SIM tray, with a separate slot for microSD card, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi Direct, GPS, AGPS, GLONASS, Infrared, Gyroscope, proximity sensor, electronic compass, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and ambient light sensor. The RAM on this device is 3GB. The phone will be fueled by a 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz, while Android 8.1 Oreo will come pre-installed on the phone, along with MIUI. The phone is an Amazon exclusive product and will be available on Amazon India, Mi.com, Mi Home, starting 12 June. In terms of memory, Xiaomi Redmi Y2 comes in two variants of 3GB RAM plus 32GB storage and 4GB RAM plus 64GB. The phone's battery pack goes down a 100mAh from the Note 4's 4100mAh battery pack.
