Among those in the plane included: pilot captain Barbra Wangeci Kamau and her First Officer Jean Mureithi while the passengers were Ahmed Ali Abdi, Karaba Sailah Waweru Muiga, Khetia Kishani, Matakasakarai Thamani, Matakatekei Paula, George Ngugi Kinyua, Pinuertorn Ronald, and Robinson Wafula. The plane was coming from Kitale and was headed to Nairobi.

Last signals, he said, were picked around Njambini area.

Some of the relatives drove from Kitale to the site for the search even as teams using a chopper for the mission cited bad weather as the reason for the delays in the job.

"The search has been halted due in the Aberdares because of bad weather and will resume on Thursday at 6 a.m".

Brenda Wanga reports from Kinangop with the latest on the search for a FlySax-operated Cesna C208 craft, registration number 5Y-CAC, that took off from Kitale airstrip in Trans-Nzoia County to JKIA and went missing. "We expect to conclude it in the next one hour", the PS said.

It lost contact with the control tower at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport a few minutes before landing.

Searchers on the ground were being helped by a police helicopter, focussing on an area about 80 kilometres north of Nairobi, on the western fringe of the Aberdare mountains.

It said the aircraft had not been sighted and the search will continue.
