As a forecasting tool, many traders value time as much as they value price. It illustrates what's happening to the market driving force at the present moment. Of course, this will result is many false signals in flat or choppy markets. At the time of writing, Transcontinental Inc. (PLU.V) has a 14-day Commodity Channel Index (CCI) of 78.84. Active investors may choose to use this technical indicator as a stock evaluation tool. The CCI was developed to typically stay within the -100 to +100 levels. Using the ADX with the Plus Directional Indicator (+DI) and Minus Directional Indicator (-DI) may help determine the direction of the trend as well as the overall momentum. A reading between 0 and -20 would indicate an overbought situation. On the flip side, a reading below -100 may signal a downtrend reflecting weak price action. Knowing exactly what to look for when doing stock research may take a lot of time to master. The Fund seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the large capitalization value sector of the USA equity market, as represented by the Russell 1000 Value Index (the Index). They may also be used to help spot support and resistance levels. After a recent check, the 200-day MA is resting at 79.54, and the 50-day is 80.73. The 14-day RSI is now at 56.3, the 7-day stands at 63.42, and the 3-day is sitting at 78.58. Traders use the "Up and Down" indicator lines to judge the strength of a trend, as absolute values signify strength, but simultaneous changes reflect a market that has yet to make up its mind. Wilder introduced RSI in his publication "New Concepts in Technical Trading Systems" which was released in 1978. RSI measures the magnitude and velocity of directional price movements. The data is represented graphically by fluctuating between a value of 0 and 100. If the RSI is closer to 100, this may indicate a period of stronger momentum. The moving average can be used as a reference point to assist with the discovery of buying and selling opportunities. Williams %R is a popular technical indicator created by Larry Williams to help identify overbought and oversold situations. A level of 50 would indicate neutral market momentum. The Williams %R fluctuates between 0 and -100 measuring whether a security is overbought or oversold. Generally, the RSI is considered to be oversold when it falls below 30 and overbought when it heads above 70. ADX is used to gauge trend strength but not trend direction. ADX calculations are made based on the moving average price range expansion over a specified amount of time. Developed by Tushar Chande, indicates if a price is trending or is in a trading range.

In terms of CCI levels, USA Min Vol Small-Cap Ishares Edge MSCI ETF (SMMV) now has a 14-day Commodity Channel Index (CCI) of 163.83. Many technical chart analysts believe that an ADX reading over 25 would suggest a strong trend. A value of 25-50 would support a strong trend.
