Tuesday night was one of those games for the Pittsburgh Pirates who defeated the Chicago White Sox 7-0 to improve to 24-17 on the season.

Pittsburgh right-hander Jameson Taillon (2-3, 4.08 ERA) is scheduled to face White Sox left-hander Hector Santiago (0-1, 5.60 ERA). Bell would then hit his second double of game, making the score 6-0 Pirates after the 2nd inning.

Santiago was pegged to make his third start, 12th appearance, when Chicago made a decision to push Carson Fulmer's start back to Friday against Texas at home to give him a full week off after he has struggled.

Meanwhile, the over is 7-0 in the Pirates' last seven Wednesday games and 4-1-1 in their last six in game two of a series.

There was no immediate word on the severity of Marte's injury, though both players nearly certainly will be held out of the Wednesday 12:35 p.m. finale of this two-game series with Chicago.

Throughout the course of a 162 game Major League Baseball season there are games where a team cruises to victory in a game that was never in doubt. On Tuesday, Abreu and Sanchez combined for three hits. Gregory Polanco, who also had two hits, added an RBI double in the sixth. There was no update on their status. Chicago is in a stretch of playing 16 consecutive games between off days. He was 1-for-4.

Sean Rodriguez drove in a pair of runs for the Pirates, who won despite tallying only four hits.

Chicago starter Reynaldo Lopez (0-3) gave up six runs and seven hits in two innings, with two walks and no strikeouts. "I thought it was just two pitches that left the yard". He left his last start early after developing a blister.

"It's tough in the short term to come out of a game, but, hopefully, by coming out when I did, we've kind of mitigated it. ..."

"I thought we did our homework well last time", he said. Last Wednesday, the Pirates recorded just a trio of hits off of Lopez in his 7 1/3 inning pitched. The Cubs and Cardinals are a game back.

When it comes to Lopez's counterpart - Trevor Williams - his start was a complete 180 from that of the White Sox righty.
