Amazon now has a number of different voices with different dialects and accents developers can now bundle into their skills, according to the company's website. Your Google Assistant's uses are personalized to your specific tastes, so why can't your Assistant sound different from everyone else's?

As Google Assistant has become unified across devices with it's functionality it has not always been easy to find each particular setting for some things.

At the event, Vogels said: "We've been thinking if voice is the natural way to interact in your home and home automation, why don't we build something you can use at work as well?"

The new voices are a mix of male and female, and are limited to US English for now.

However, Alexa's integration into PCs poses a challenge to Microsoft which is trying to push its voice-activated assistant Cortana as the preferred way for people to talk to their Windows-powered computers for performing simple tasks.

Now click on "preferences", and in the next screen you'll see a choice for "Assistant voice". To check it out head into your Home app, then under the hamburger menu go into "more settings" and scroll down to the bottom.

All you need to do from there is select which of the voices you like, and tap to change it.

Selection of voices for Google Assistant.

First, find Google Home and open it.

Next, click on the hamburger icon (the three horizontal lines) in the top left corner to reveal the menu. It will even swap the voice for each account connected to the speaker.
