The two worked together on songs for her new album Liberation.

The two singers trade lines and harmonize throughout over a backing track that recalls Lovato's own record Tell Me You Love Me from previous year.

The track hears both singers belting back-and-forth about female empowerment and refusing to conform. You're truly a GEM, I have vast love & respect for you!

Aguilera last appeared on The Voice in 2016, but she did not leave due to Shelton's budding romance with Gwen Stefani, one of the newer coaches. The song grows in ferocity, as well as in its ambitious vocals, as Demi declares, "You're more than flesh and bones" before two belt and harmonize throughout in a move that seems to solidify Lovato as an undeniable voice of her generation.

"BUCKET LIST ITEM 1 ✔️ @xtina featuring me #FALLINLINE http://demilovato.co/fallinline", Lovato added. A few years ago, this wouldn't have been an issue, however, considering West's recent string of controversial tweets and his breakdown at TMZ (during which he referred to slavery as "a choice") Aguilera felt the need to explain her decision to drop music with his name in the credits.

Christina Aguilera is one of those artists who gets better with age. On the track, Aguilera and Lovato encourage girls to know their worth, understand that they're more than their bodies and age, and speak out against the patriarchy. "Oh my God, no!" she said of her alleged feud with the No Doubt singer. "I nearly cried when I first heard her on the record". "And I actually think it's really cute Blake and Gwen found love in that chaotic environment".
