Enterprises have business needs driven by security, compliance, ownership, privacy, and scalability requirements, which can bring additional complexity to their blockchain projects.

The result is that blockchain is more accessible and easier for customers to use, and even faster for them to connect blockchain solutions to AWS services securely.

This has made the cloud computing arm of Amazon enter into partnership with the start-up company, giving customers the opportunity to put their services on blockchain.

Kaleido provides a full solution for those ready for something more than do-it-yourself scripts or templates, streamlining the process of standing up secure, private blockchain networks without sacrificing the ability to customize the environment.

Hyperledger and R3 are examples of private blockchain solutions. "What Salesforce did for CRMs, Kaleido will do for blockchain".

It will have the capabilities to link between private networks and public Ethereum mainnet, integrated analytics, support for a variety of protocols, and consensus mechanisms including RAFT, POA and IBFT. These private networks offer all the benefits of the underlying blockchain technology, while maintaining the necessary levels of security and performance. Networks created via Kaliedo can be "anchored" to the public Ethereum blockchain in order to reduce the risk of after-the-fact collusion and deliver greater "proof of settlement finality". Although the company has a commanding lead in the public cloud market, rivals Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and others have been doubling down on their efforts to increase market share during a period when late-to-the-cloud enterprises are beginning to move away from traditional stand-alone data center models to adopt hybrid cloud approaches.

The Kaleido blockchain cloud was piloted in a bank in the Philippines.

Cerveny adds, "Public and private blockchains have been evolving largely independently for the last couple years". "We are excited to work with Telefónica to enable the digital transformation of enterprise customers and help them leverage the scalability and breadth of services that AWS offers".

AWS is utilizing a partner-led strategy instead of structure from the ground up.

Kaleido, which was launched today, May 15th, will feature "popular Ethereum packages Geth and Quorum".

Joseph Lubin, Co-founder of Ethereum and Founder of ConsenSys adds, "We are now entering a new era of simple and inclusive access to blockchain technology that cuts through the hype to advance stronger, more collaborative, business relationships previously out of reach". Verizon is migrating over 1,000 business-critical applications and database backend systems to AWS, several of which also include the migration of production databases to Amazon Aurora-AWS's relational database engine that combines the speed and availability of high-end commercial databases with the simplicity and cost-effectiveness of open source databases.
