The 2022 matchup will be the 10th meeting between the two and the first since the Crimson Tide defeated the Longhorns 37-21 in the BCS National Championship Game at the conclusion of the 2009 season.

The Crimson Tide will play Texas in 2022 and 2023, it was announced Wednesday. Overall, Alabama and Texas have met nine times with the Longhorns holding a 7-1-1 lead.

Texas will host the Crimson Tide on September 10, 2022, before traveling to Tuscaloosa on September 9, 2023, for the return leg of their series.

To accommodate this series Texas and Ohio State have mutually agreed to push back the dates of their home-and-home series from 2022 and 2023 to 2025 and 2026. The two schools have only met three times on their traditional home fields - the last coming in 1922.

Texas officials announced the agreement Wednesday. The bowl matchups have taken place in the 1947 Sugar Bowl, 1960 Bluebonnet Bowl, 1964 Orange Bowl, 1972 and 1982 Cotton Bowls and most recently the 2010 Rose Bowl.

Texas is second in the NCAA with 898 all-time wins. UT is 5-0 in the all-time series and last faced its El Paso sister school in 2016.

The future non-conference schedules for Alabama now include games with Louisville (2018), Duke (2019), USC (2020), Miami (2021), and Texas in 2022 and 2023. They didn't meet until 2005, but have met three times over the last 13 years, including a home-and-home series in 2005 and 2006.

In 2020, Texas is scheduled to play South Florida (Sept. 5), at LSU (Sept. 12) and now UTEP (Sept. 19).
