He was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after his lawyer said the guard wrongfully refused entry to the community and called police after and argument.

TMZ is now reporting that the security guard who called cops on T.I. wasn't awake ... according to the so called King of the South, who says the guy was sleeping like a baby when he pulled up to the guard shack. He then asked the guard, "Don't you know who I am?" according to police.

Henry County Police deputy Mike Ireland said TI was arrested around 4.30am after he got into an argument with a security guard.

Henry County PD arrested Tip for simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Last weekend, T.I. saluted his wife Tameka "Tiny" Cottle with a Mother's Day shout-out. Sadow said that T.I. had a different version of events: that the guard was "asleep" when Harris arrived at the guardhouse to try to go home. Media reports say the Grammy-winning artist, whose real name is Clifford Harris, had lost his key and the guard wouldn't let him into the community.

Police told the outlet that he was arrested at the gated community where he lives after an altercation with a security guard. Holmes was arrested on outstanding charges out of Clayton County and for not having proof of vehicle insurance. He says the rapper identified himself and sought entry, but the guard refused.

"The guard continued to refuse entry without justification", Sadow said in a statement, referring to Tip.

"To see young people involved with something so important right now - that gives a sense of hope", T.I. said.

Both Holmes and T.I. were ultimately arrested.

T.I.'s attorney also released a statement to the local news network. Attorney Sadow says the officers had no interest in "hearing Tip's side of the story and wrongfully chose to end the situation by arresting Tip".
