After the announcement, Maradona expanded through Morla that he will leave his residency in Uruguay to live in Brest, where it is hoped that greater success than at his last employer, Al-Fujairah, languishing in the second division of the UAE, will be encountered.

One-time Belarusian Premier League winners Dinamo are now eighth in the league and through to the Belarusian Cup final, where they will meet BATE Borisov next weekend. Fujairah clinched a place in the top flight earlier this week by coming through a play-off with Hatta.

"Yes, Diego's with us!" the club wrote on its official Twitter account late Tuesday, following media rumours over the weekend.

"Thanks for the trust".

And this Belarusian football club, in turn, informed that Maradona has signed a three-year contract with them.

The club say Maradona's role will see him "deal with strategic development of the club".

The man who led Argentina to the World Cup championship in 1986 will likely assume his responsibilities as chairman and sporting director of Dynamo Brest after the 2018 Russia World Cup, during which he will be working as a sports commentator.

Brest, who won the Belarusian Cup a year ago and its Super Cup in March, said Maradona will be officially introduced as chairman at Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi.
