A flash flood warning means flooding is either imminent or already occurring.

The St. Joseph River below Montpelier, Ohio, is to experience a moderate flood, the National Weather Service said today. It urged poeple to "seek higher ground now". Residents along streams and creeks should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. Lowland and agricultural land throughout the county also experienced flooding.

At 10 a.m., the river was measuring at 10.65 feet at the New Munster gauge. The river is forecast to crest at 14.2 feet late Wednesday. Because the soil is already saturated and streams are already swollen that means flooding is likely nearly any day, with some potential for significant river flooding late in the week through the weekend.
