There will be a season 7 of the TV show "Last Man Standing" in which Tim Allen - a real radio amateur - plays Mike Baxter, KA0XTT. Not so lucky: Last Man on Earth, which Fox canceled, along with The Mick, Lucifer, and The Exorcist. "We just think it's a really amusing show" with general appeal, he said in announcing the network's 2018-19 schedule with fellow chairman and CEO Dana Walden.

It nearly seemed that the awesome run of quite possibly the funniest show on television would end without a fight from anyone but the actors and the fans - at least until NBC stepped in and picked the show up. "And five years ago, when NBC passed on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, we went elsewhere". We always felt like ABC didn't really prioritize Last Man Standing.

On the decision to cancel Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Walden said, "It was based on a variety of factors".

When asked if ABC's cancellation of Last Man Standing had anything to do with politics, Fox Television's other Chairman and CEO Gary Newman said it likely had more to do with vertical integration. "Scheduling 'Brooklyn' would have prevented us from launching something new".

Entertainment Weekly pointed out that "Last Man Standing" on ABC received an average of 8 million viewers with minimal promotion, while "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" averaged less than 3 million. Some critics of Fox's decision were particularly dismayed by its timing, as it was rumored then that Last Man Standing might get a revival from the network. The show seemed to do the best on Sunday nights, but Fox wanted to give Bob's Burgers a chance to "grow" in that slot. "We didn't have the right opportunity".

"Last Man Standing" is set to return this fall.

"Last Man Standing" tells the story of a married father of three who tries to maintain his manliness in a world often dominated by women.

The half-hour series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television and will anchor a new Friday night comedy block in the network's 2018 fall schedule.

Roseanne Barr is also a Trump supporter, as is the title character of her show, but "Roseanne" also includes other political voices. When I heard the offer to create more episodes of Last Man Standing, I did a fist pump so hard I threw my back out. We always wondered how it would do if it was given a better opportunity and prioritized more in terms of a network's agenda. It was ABC's second most-watched comedy after "Modern Family".

As if that news wasn't surprising enough, Allen took to Twitter to be among the first to share Fox's new teaser trailer for Season 7, the first on its new network. "It's the fans! I could not be more grateful for the fans who wrote petitions and kept up the passion and incredible support for the show".

"I'm sure audiences will be curious to see what we look like after all these years", Allen added in his statement. The adaptation of Justin Cronin's book trilogy has been in the works for years, and at one time was going to be a movie directed by Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes). "Well, just goes to show you - a lot can happen in a year".

Tim Allen, meanwhile, logged an appearance at Fox's presentation Monday afternoon at New York's Beacon Theatre.
