It will see del Toro present a collection of personally curated stories.

He might be taking it a little easier on the cinematic directorial front after Oscar success with The Shape Of Water, but don't expect Guillermo del Toro to take that much of a break.

Netflix announced the new series today, calling the show a "new genre-defining anthology series".

Additionally, the press release notes "On Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight, creator and executive producer del Toro will bring his own visionary style as both a writer and director to certain episodes".

With this first live-action series, del Toro and Netflix extend their collaboration, which began with the award-winning animated series Trollhunters. The third season of Trollhunters will premiere on May 25, 2018. Del Toro is reteaming with his Shape of Water producer J. Miles Dale.

Guillermo del Toro earned four Academy Awards for his riveting romantic fantasy, The Shape of Water.

Del Toro was long rumored to be involved with the upcoming Amazon seriesCarnival Row, possibly as a co-writer, executive producer, and/or director, but he ended up stepping away from the project due to scheduling conflicts. He'll also hand-pick a team of what Netflix describes as the genre's best writers and new filmmakers to bring his selection of stories to life.

We don't have a release date or an episode count for 10 After Midnight just yet, but it will hopefully arrive sometime in the next year or so.

Del Toro is the famed horror and monster movie director best known for "monster movies" such as Hellboy, The Devil's Backbone, and Pan's Labyrinth.
