The KEY2 event starts at 10 AM ET (7:30 PM IST) on June 7th, Thursday.
The phone will be the follow-up to last year's BlackBerry KeyOne, which impressed us with its keyboard-led design and software security but which was something of a letdown in terms of the performance under the hood and all the other stuff a modern phone is supposed to handle these days - like music and movies.
In January, BlackBerry Mobile President Alain Lejeune had confirmed that the company is working on at least two new smartphones for 2018. This is the same smartphone which was spotted on the Chinese certification website TENAA that revealed some possible specifications of the BlackBerry Key2.
The listing by TENAA showcased a dual rear camera setup on a Blackberryhandset bearing model number BBF100-4. As per the images available on the TENAA site, the smartphone will have a complete rubberised, textured panel on the back. However, contrary reports also suggest that the KEY2 will have a plastic body and the key on its QWERTY keyboard will come with a Matte finish. The phone will also have a 3.5mm audio jack and USB Type-C.
No further details have been revealed at this point in time but seeing as how it's a successor to the KeyOne, it's safe to say that the handset is going to have a full QWERTY keyboard. Moreover, there are some rumors which suggest the handset will debut with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM.
