One jawan was martyred in a gunbattle which broke out between the security forces and the terrorists in South Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday morning.

An Army soldier who was injured earlier on Tuesday in an ongoing encounter with terrorists in Tral forest area of Kashmir valley, succumbed to his injuries.

Reports said two-to-three militants were engaged in the gunfight with the security forces in the densely forested area.

An army officer told GNS that Sepoy Ajay Kumar of 42 RR sustained serious bullet wounds in the gunfight.

Three JeM militants were also killed, the official said adding weapons and other warlike stores were recovered from the scene of the incident.

Latif Gojri succumbed to injuries he suffered in an encounter in a forest in Tral in Awantipura police district.

Tral encounter: A joint operation was started by the Rashtriya Rifles, state police and the Central Reserve Police Force in Lam forest area of Tral after receiving tip off about the presence of militants there.
