Daybreak are promising that the game will run at 60fps on PS4 Pro, which presumably implies it won't on a standard PlayStation 4.

Additionally, the UI has been streamlined for the PS4 in order to make it more accessible to play with controllers.

H1Z1 will launch for open beta on PlayStation 4 on May 22, 2018.

Talking about the announcement, H1Z1 Producer Terrence Yee said that: "H1Z1 on PS4 is true battle royale mayhem".

H1Z1 on PS4 is designed specifically for the console and focuses exclusively on the core elements that make battle royale exciting.

'We have added key gameplay differentiators to keep the game frantic and fun - an action shooter's dream of fast-paced Battle Royale'. With battle royale games being more popular than survival games, Daybreak Games dropped the King of the Kill name and simply called it H1Z1, leaving its survival mode to Just Survive. Up to one hundred and fifty players could compete against each other to be the last one standing after parachuting down onto a random part of a large-scale map. Before it officially launches on Sony's eighth generation system, gamers will get a chance to play H1Z1 in the form of an open beta, which will commence on Tuesday, May 22. And unlike the PC counterpart, the PS4 version of H1Z1 does not feature a crafting system.

The control scheme for H1Z1 on PS4 has been tailor-made to keep players focused on the action.

When it comes to the games new progression mechanics, players will only be able to loot six level-one weapons at the start of a match and must decide which airdrops to pursue if they want better weapons and gear. Just find one of the many special crates hidden throughout the map containing level 2 and 3 gear.

PlayStation Plus Members will receive 20% off their preorder purchase, too.

H1Z1 will be free to play on the PlayStation 4 and if it is anything like the PC version, it will have micro transactions for loot.

Finally, starting from today, you can pre-order a special H1Z1 pre-order bundle that'll include new cosmetic items that'll be available when the game reaches open beta, along with a dynamic PS4 theme.
