The Queen is set to attend a star-studded concert to celebrate her 92nd birthday.

The queen has been the symbolic head of the Commonwealth since her father king George VI's death in 1952, but its leaders agreed on Friday that her son and heir Prince Charles should succeed her.

A 41-gun salute was staged in Hyde Park while other such salutes took place in other locations, as per tradition, the Daily Mail reported.

The concert lineup features quite a few big names, including Kylie Minogue, Shawn Mendes, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Sting & Shaggy, recent The Voice contestant Donel Mangena, as well as the BBC Concert Orchestra.

The queen celebrates two birthdays yearly: Her precise birthday on April. 21, which she normally marks privately together with her household, and her "official birthday" in the summertime.

Prince Harry, who was appointed at the president of the The Queen's Commonwealth Trust, is expected to speak up at the evening event. That normally falls on the second Saturday in June, when she joins the Trooping the Colour army parade in central London.

The Queen has two birthdays. "What was clear during our time together is that the affection and admiration so many of us feel is equally shared by people from every corner of the world", he said in a written statement.
