The past few months have seen Fortnite: Battle Royale transcend pas just being a video game and become a cultural phenomenon.

Speaking with Official PlayStation Magazine, Epic's Fornite design lead Eric Williamson was interviewed for this May's issue of the magazine and he teased that the current 100 player cap for Battle Royale might be increased at some point. I mean, personally, I would love to try it. The developer claims that the problems stemmed from a critical database failure that required the team to take the game offline for a period of "emergency maintenance". Additionally, there are four sets of five Battle Stars for the normal difficulty tasks, while hard challenges will each award players with 10 Battle Stars.

Perhaps this higher-than-100 player mode could be tested as a Limited Time diversion to gauge reception among players. Fortnite itself has a 50v50 game mode that's previewed in the trailer above, a mode that Epic Games recently discussed while explaining how it's being improved. From powerful explosions to big squads, he said that the modes allow Epic Games to try things that wouldn't always work in the base game.

If player count does happen to increase in the future, we could be looking at some more hilarious gameplay [VIDEO] in "Fortnite". Of course, this direction of integrating game modes comes with plenty of things to consider since each class is different from one another and certain classes can either have a huge advantage or a huge disadvantage over another class.

Those are really fun palate cleansers. they allow us to do things we couldn't do in the core game. they give us the opportunity to break the game and tip everything on its head. A Reddit user suggested adding this game mode to Fortnite and many fans liked the idea of adding it as a limited time mode.

Developers do say that the game won't immediately increase the player cap, but may slowly start off by introducing a game mode with more players.
