By being crowned champions at this point in the season, City have equalled the Premier League record for the earliest win.

City, who rebounded from the United loss and a European exit at the hands of Liverpool by beating Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 at Wembley on Saturday, have 87 points with five games left.

"These players deserve all my respect because they have been unbelievable all season".

United prevented the Citizens from sealing the title at the Etihad Stadium last weekend after they fought back from two goals down to claim a shock 3-2 win in the 176th Manchester derby.

Sergio Aguero became the all-time top scorer for Manchester City with 199 goals. Previous times, we almost threw it away and that was a feature of every season we won it. That gave us [confidence], against the last champions we are able to go there and played the way we played. The 32-year-old Silva's game has been elevated again in this free-flowing City side, with his outstanding eye for a pass and unshakeable control in possession key to Guardiola's system.

After starting the title party with his Mancunian wife and his United-supporting father-in-law, City captain Vincent Kompany joined team-mates to raise a glass to their success.

"It's the same feeling as the first time", the 32-year-old Belgium global, who unlike his manager did watch the game, told Sky Sports.

"I was talking before the game and saying the first time you win it, you think you're going to win all of them".

"It shows what football is in Manchester".

'Especially if you've been a Blue for more than forty years. "I saw lots of people in the moon because we won against City. It's a privilege to be a part of this team".

Guardiola might not have seen Jay Rodriguez's 73rd-minute winning goal at Old Trafford because he was due to be playing golf with his son instead of watching the match.

It is City's third title in seven seasons and a first under the Spaniard in his second campaign in charge.

"You can not imagine", Guardiola said on Saturday.

'I'd like to stay humble, it's not a dynasty, it's just one title.

'We needed a period of adaptation...his methods were the right ones, we believed in him.

"He has been able to transfer to the team that hunger and desire to never be satisfied". I'm buzzing, over the moon, so happy and proud to be able to share this with all of our fans, everybody who's been there to support us especially in this last week as many know it's been very hard but at the same time we've bounced back, we're champions now and thank you to all of you, It's an incredible season.

"These guys are fantastic, awesome - they are incredible".

"This club is absolutely awesome in all terms".
