Free servicing available for 42mm Apple Watch Series 2 units with expanding batteries

Apple advises that customers inquiring about a refund for a previous Apple Watch Series 2 battery replacement should contact its support advisors.
This week, Apple has launched a new service program that offers free out-of-warranty repairs to Apple Watch Series 2 owners whose device suffers from a swollen battery.
The repairs will be free of charge for Series 2 watches that will not power on due to the battery swelling. In addition to this, the company is said to provide assistance for up to 3-years after the initial purchase of the wearable.
Repairs are limited to the 42mm Apple Watch Series 2 models, including Sport, Edition, Hermès, and Nike+ models.
"Apple will authorise coverage for eligible devices for 3 years after the original date of purchase". This action is subject to only watch the second series, the first and third, the exemption does not apply.
To remedy the problem, Apple says it is offering to service eligible devices for free. Moreover, any 38mm variant of the Apple Watch is also not eligible to apply.

Users have experienced their Apple Watch Series 2 batteries expanding in size without any reason. Apple has nearly always replaced or serviced such devices and generally covers expanded batteries past the 1-year warranty date, regardless of a program such as this. Let us know in the comments.
