Environment Canada is predicting freezing rain and ... wait for it ... an ice storm this weekend.

BOSTON- The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory - yes winter weather for April 15 - for Sunday from 4 8 p.m. There will be pockets of rain, freezing rain and sleet throughout southern New England, the weather service says, bringing along some icing.

Rain will change to freezing rain on Saturday - you can expect to see it into the evening hours.

Northern Litchfield County has been included in a "Winter Weather Advisory" since Friday afternoon.

Periods of light freezing rain and sleet are expected across parts of central and western MA and ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch are possible.

By Sunday morning, many towns will be experiencing temperatures near freezing with rain, sleet, and possible slippery travel, especially in the higher elevations east and west of Hartford.

For the latest road conditions, call 511.

Combine the ice accumulations with gusty northeast winds to 60 km/h and we may see widespread power outages due to fallen tree limbs and power lines, the federal agency is warning.
