Unfortunately, its release on the the doomed Dreamcast console meant that few people played it, or its sequel, in their original forms, although Shenmue II did see a further release on the original Xbox.

Sega hasn't announced pricing details or an exact release date for Shenmue I & II, but the collection will be available at retail and digitally from the PlayStation and Xbox Stores, as well as Steam.

You've asked, we listened and we're extremely excited to finally announce that Shenmue I & II are coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC in one package!

While we still have to wait for the release of Shenmue 3, fans of the franchise will be happy to know that the first two games in the series are now getting HD remasters.

Are you like me and are a person who owned the Sega Dreamcast but didn't pick up Shenmue when you had the chance?

The first game in the series, Shenmue begins the tale as Ryo travels around Yokosuka, Japan, gathering clues about his father's murder and dealing with nefarious gangsters along the way.

The bundle isn't just a straight port of the original games, either. Players will have the option of Japanese or English voiceovers, modern or classic controls, scalable resolution, and "PC graphics options". It might not be a ground-up reworking, but it looks like there's enough here to bring the games up to modern standards.

But it seems 2018 is going to be Shenmue year.
