We've asked Sega to clarify that and to confirm whether or not the Mini Mega Drive will make it to market in the west, and we'll update you here on Gamereactor as soon as we know more.

This year was different, however, and there was something for everyone.

Another major announcement is the remaster of the critically acclaimed Shenmue 1 and 2 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC just in time for the release of Shenmue 3 later this year.

Sega has seen your SNES Classic Mini and wants to raise you a mini version of the Genesis (or Mega Drive, as it was called outside the US).

Sega Mega Drive Mini has been officially announced in Japan. Both games will feature Japanese AND English voiceovers as well as options for modern vs. classic controls and a fully scalable screen resolution. It seems likely we'll see similar fare here, though that hasn't stopped me from maniacally daydreaming of seeing Skies of Arcadia show up on the Switch in this fashion (it absolutely won't). Fans of the Switch don't need to worry, as SEGA made a decision to change that. So far, we only know of three games that have been confirmed for the collection: Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star, and Thunder Force IV.

The fourth announcement is a brand new Sakura Taisen project that will be faithful to the DNA of the storied series.

We don't get the box set, but we can pick and choose.
