Juventus' second leg comeback was undone deep into second half stoppage time as Cristiano Ronaldo converted a penalty to send Real Madrid to the Champions League semis.

The goals cancelled out Real's resounding 3-0 win in Turin a week earlier but Lucas Vazquez won a disputed injury-time penalty and Juventus goalkeeper and captain Gianluigi Buffon was given a straight red card for pushing English referee Michael Oliver as he vented his fury at the decision.

A year ago they suffered a 2-1 reverse at home to Bayern Munich before reaching the last four after extra-time.

Real Madrid travel to play bottom of the table Malaga on Sunday night with half an eye on Europe and the remainer on the Liga Santander.

"It's shameful what has been said about us and the way we have been treated, the suggestion it was robbery". "I'm really disappointed with what's been said". There's nowhere bigger, so if he does leave Madrid, where's he going to go?

The task for Madrid between now and the semi-final is to try and win their games, while at the same time ensuring key players are in peak form for Europe and Zidane will make changes accordingly.

"The champions survive the resistance", proclaimed Spanish newspaper Marca, also repeating late Real midfielder Juanito's famous line: "93 minutes at the Santiago Bernabeu is a very long time".

The Wales global has been competing with the likes of Isco, Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez for a first team spot but has slowly fallen down the pecking order and appears to have lost the faith of his manager Zinedine Zidane.

"Now we have to forget all of this and focus on the semifinal".
