Late Actor Sridevi won the best actress award for Mom, a revenge thriller directed by Ravi Udyawar. She has shot a very brief cameo for Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film Zero, which is due to release at the end of this year.

"She was not just a super actor but a super wife and a super mom". She is not with us today but her legacy will always live on.

The veteran actress, Sridevi, died an unfortunate death in Dubai on February 12. "Mom" was her 300th film.

The jury, headed by filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, had handed over its recommendations to Information and Broadcasting minister Smriti Irani yesterday. He had worked with Sridevi in 1987 film "Mr India". From a child actor till her last film. "I'm ecstatic with the news about the film winning the National Award Honour". Taapsee Pannu said, "This is the third time I have had the opportunity to be a part of a National Award Winning film". After a 100 odd films, this is my first national award and I am going to treasure this moment. This will pave the way for viewing such films. The story was based on a mother avenging the rape of her daughter, who was played by Aly in the film. Meanwhile, actor Parvathy, who was touted to be a contender for the Best Actress award, got a special mention instead for Take Off. I had no idea I was even in the running. SS Rajamouli's Baahubali has so far won in two categories- Best Action Direction and Special Effects. "My director and co-actors made it so easy for me to act in this film", he said. On the other hand, "To Let" directed by Prema Chezhiyan was awarded the Best Tamil film of 2017.

In the regional film category, Ladakh film was named the best regional film while critically acclaimed film "Newton" bagged the Best Hindi film award. He is the second actor to be given the award posthumously after Prithviraj Kapoor.
