Amazon has reduced the price of its smart speaker series Amazon Echo in India.

If you had your eyes set on Amazon Echo Plus, there is no offer for the larger speaker, as Amazon has no imminent threat from Google for its biggest speaker as the Home Plus was not announced in India alongside Home and Home Mini speakers on Tuesday. Similarly, upon buying two Amazon Echo speakers, customers can avail a discount of Rs 3000 on total bill.

Google has finally introduced its smart speakers in India with Home and Home Mini. If buyers are considering buying an Amazon smart speaker, they must hurry as the offer is valid only till April 12.

The smart speaker market in India is at niche stage as there are not enough products available that provide a fluid experience. There is no change in the price of Amazon Echo Plus, which still stands at Rs. 14,999. "The discount is eligible only on orders made from "Estore mall" or Cloud connect_SLP" sellers on Amazon.in.

"Can't speak to our future product roadmap", an Amazon spokesperson told me when I asked whether or not the Show would follow the Spot up north, "but we believe customers will greatly enjoy [the] Echo Spot". In fact, as the company wearily repeats nearly weekly, Echo devices do not, and can not, send voice recordings back to Amazon unless they have heard one of the preselected "wake words", such as "Alexa", "Echo" or "computer". Now, all three devices are available for purchase without a need for any invitation. However, they have now received over 12,000 skills which are specific to the Indian market. Amazon's speakers on the other hand sound better and is more suitable for playing music, though it doesn't imply Google's speakers sound bad, it is just that Echo speakers sound a little better. Apart from streaming music wirelessly, Amazon's Echo range of products can be used for a multitude of tasks like shopping from Amazon.in, controlling smart home devices, setting reminders or creating shopping lists, searching for answers and content online, and voice calling as well as messaging. However, the search giant is pretty late to the party as its arch-rival Amazon, introduced its lineup of smart speakers in the country past year.

"We have ben working with many local partners to customise Google Home for India". Google's integration of famous platforms like Netflix, YouTube, and Saavn is likely to be its major USP.

The introductory offer also includes bundling a free Reliance Jio Wi-Fi router with the speakers.

"When buying a Google "Home" at Reliance Digital or MyJio stores, you get a free JioFi router with 100GB of high-speed 4G data (worth Rs 2,499)", the company said in a statement. This limited time offer lasts only till the 30th of April, 2018.
