But WSB reports she later made it clear to officers that she crashed the auto carrying her children on goal "to prove that God will protect them".

A security camera stationed across the street from the pole Warren drove into captured the mother driving at a high speed northbound across southbound lanes during the disturbing incident.

After the crash, Warren admitted that she intentionally crashed the vehicle to prove to her children that God is real, according to police.

"She was telling us to believe in god so nothing would happen to us", one of the children told police, according to patrol auto footage obtained by WSBTV. "She wanted us to know that God is real".

Warren told the children, who are aged five and seven, to buckle up and then accelerated blindly, police said.

The children were released to their grandmother on scene and were not taken into Division of Family and Children Services' custody, though Butynski said it would be "completely up to (DFCS)" whether an investigation would be opened into the mother's actions.

An Ansonia mother is facing charges after police said she left a child home alone.

Officers arrested Bakari Warren after she was rescued from the SUV along with her kids.

"It could've been a lot worse", Nocross Police Sgt. Eric Butynski told WSB. She reportedly later admitted proving God's existence to her children was her motivation.

Jail records show Warren bonded out of the jail on Friday afternoon.
