Hillary Clinton told a receptive audience over the weekend in India that while she thought President Donald Trump played to some of Americans' worst fears, he does not reflect the country as a whole.
She said that Putin blamed her for people protesting on the streets in Russian Federation and he was very upset about it. Clinton said that she was also outspoken about Russia's role in Syria. "He really likes their authoritarian posture and behavior".
As for Trump's conduct on the worldwide stage, Clinton pointed to the President's "affinity for dictators", including Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The host of the event pressed Clinton on whether she believes Russian Federation has "something" on Trump.
"No, we didn't deserve that", Clinton said.
She explained that her first goal was to help Democrats take back the House of Representatives in the 2018 midterm elections."That would then give us some balance that we desperately need right now", Clinton said.
Clinton also reflected that in a campaign against a reality TV star perhaps she should have been more "entertaining". "I'm the mother who says, 'Eat your spinach, you'll grow up strong.' Someone else is saying, 'Eat all the fast food and the ice cream you can possibly stick in your mouth, '" Clinton said, according to the Post.
