Charlie Nicholas is backing Manchester United to book their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League by claiming a 2-0 victory over Sevilla at Old Trafford on Tuesday night. They have two wins and two losses in their last four Liga matches since the first leg against Manchester United, and both losses have come at home.

Second in the Premier League with a top-four place all but assured, United will be back in the Champions League next season, but are not yet finished in this year's competition.

The French worldwide took part in some of the training session today and I think he'll be passed fit to start tomorrow.

With Paul Pogba uncertain to face Sevilla, Craig Burley and Alexis Nunes debate whether Man United can overcome Sevilla in their UCL second leg.

Mourinho led Porto to an unlikely triumph in the 2003-04 competition and did likewise with Inter six years later. "When a team gets into the last eight, the feeling is you are among the best but anything can happen". "Now I have only one name and that is Sevilla".

I'd back Rashford at Sky Bet's 14/1 for another double but I don't know whether he's going to play. "It can be a historic match for the club if we get into the quarter-finals".

On the other hand, Sevilla do not have confirmed absentees but several players are doubtful and could miss the game at Old Trafford this Tuesday.

Sevilla drew 2-2 at Liverpool in the group stage and came back from 3-0 down at home to draw 3-3 with Jurgen Klopp's side, with Mourinho acutely aware of their goal threat.

On the topic of joining Mourinho's staff he said: "It's kind of been sorted out, but we're still talking about it so there is nothing to totally confirm yet".

"He doesn't have to (speak to me)", said the forward.

The problem for Mourinho is not just United's tradition for winning while playing on the front foot under great European Cup-winning managers Matt Busby and Alex Ferguson, but that United are no longer even the best team in Manchester.

With Marouane Fellaini rejecting a new contract at United and Michael Carrick retiring at the end of the season, it would be understandable for Mourinho to look for reinforcements in the midfield.

"We are reaching an important time in the season, the key moment, and the team needs total concentration on the pitch to achieve our goals".

Anthony Martial and Zlatan Ibrahimovic did return to training, as did Eric Bailly, formerly of Villarreal, despite suffering a knock in the weekend win.

Defenders Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind are expected to remain on the sidelines with midfielder Ander Herrera.
