The women's bantamweight title will be on the line come May 12, when Amanda Nunes and Raquel Pennington face off at UFC 224 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The showdown between UFC champions Amanda Nunes and Cris Cyborg will have to wait - if it happens at all. She also scored a first round TKO over Ronda Rousey in December of 2016 in her first title defence.
For Nunes, the fight with Pennington will be the third attempted defense of her bantamweight title in a win streak that stretches six fights.
Thats an impressive run given that prior to that, Rocky's' career record was just 5-5, though most of her losses were to high-level opposition such as Holly Holm, Jessica Andrade, Cat Zingano and Leslie Smith.
The UFC has officially announced Amanda Nunes' next opponent.
In her most recent bout, she successfully retained her title against Valentina Shevchenko by split decision in September at UFC 215.
"[Nunes will] defend her belt in May, I think, and then probably I'm going to fight in July if she wins and is the champion", Cyborg said after beating Kunitskaya and improving to 5-0 in the UFC. Preliminary bouts are set for FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
However, it was too quick a turnaround for Cyborg. I mean, she just fought, so once the adrenaline goes down, she's got to get checked out and make sure she's 100-percent. A pair of middleweight bouts - Vitor Belfort versus Lyoto Machida and Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza versus Kelvin Gastelum - are also slated to take place at the event.
