According to Pakistan media reports, the accused who threw the shoe at Sharif has been detained and two more people have been detained over the incident.

A man on Sunday hurled shoe at former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at Jamia Naeemia, Lahore, theGeo News said, adding that the attacker appeared to be a student of the seminary.

The shoe-thrower, whose identification couldn't be ascertained, launched his attack after approaching the stage when Sharif was about to deliver a speech. The student also managed to reach in front of Sharif and chanted "Labbaik Ya Rasoolullah" slogan.

Security personnel caught him and his accomplice and gave them a thrashing. As per the reports, the attacker was identified as the Talha Munawar, who was a former student of the seminary.

The former prime minister addressed the crowd later on.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb says the PML-N government has put the country on the path of developmental process by taking bold steps, reported Radio Pakistan.

The religious parties especially Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan had held Sharif and his party (PML-N) responsible for making an attempt to change a clause related to finality of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in the Constitution. On Saturday, a man threw ink on Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif while he was addressing a workers convention in Sialkot.

"This hurt the sentiments of millions of Pakistanis including myself", he said.
