'I had a bad experience, ' Demi told Billboard for her cover issue.

The 25-year-old has always been open about her addiction and steps to recovery and has even opened a centre to help those who battle against the illness.

Speaking about the Met Gala 2016, Demi Lovato has opened up about an awkward encounter with a "fake" celeb at the event which almost made her break her years of sobriety.

This celebrity (approx. red Nicki Minaj) acting like a bitch, and I looked pathetic next to her. "I remember being so uncomfortable that I wanted to drink", she tells the magazine.

She texted her manager, then went straight to a 10 p.m. Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. "I changed my clothes, but I still had my diamonds on - millions of dollars of diamonds on in an AA meeting", she explained.

"I had a bad experience", she said, with the author noting how Lovato's voice rose in pitch "for the only time during our conversation". It all began when the rapper posted an Instagram photo with designer Jeremy Scott and Demi at the Met Gala (he dressed them both for the evening), but only tagged Jeremy. She also told Australian radio hosts Kyle and Jackie O the 2013 Met Gala "sucked".

The snub didn't go unnoticed by Lovato, who shared a Snapchat with fans captioned: "When you aren't mentioned in a post but didn't do shit to the person..."

The "Sorry Not Sorry" singer later tweeted out, "p.s. some of y'all need to learn how to take a joke". "I'm pro-gun control. Obviously for me...politics are hard to talk about".

"The people that aren't willing to chill with you at home are the type of people that just want to be seen with you". She's super low-key; she doesn't drink or party. She shouted out singer and ride or die Ariana Grande as one of the people she consistently leans on. "He's loved me the way I never thought I deserved to be loved and with this day marking my 3rd year sober", she wrote on Instagram. "Maybe you DON'T know every aspect of my life maybe you shouldn't assume you know", she added with a middle finger emoji. And the squint gives me a reason to live.
