Tagging could also assist Snapchat in improving the intertwining of Stories and messaging, which now appear on the same tap post the app's revamp.

Tagging your friend will create a swipe-up menu showing the user's name, handle, Bitmoji, and an option to add them as a friend.

Influencers including DJ Snake, Tchami, and even Kylie Jenner have made the switch from Snapchat exclusively to Instagram Stories.

It's unclear when the feature will roll out officially, but Snapchat confirmed to TechCrunch that 'we're testing this, ' without giving more details.

If the update goes live, this would be the latest move on Snapchat's behalf to seemingly copy the Instagram stories feature-which added the ability to tag friends in stories in November 2016.

Now when taking a photo in the app, some users are able to use the @ symbol and then write another person's username to link them to the story.

When someone views your Snap, they can also see more information about the tagged user by swiping up on the "more" option. However, the feature is not being rolled out to all users, and is now in the pilot phase, the company said to TechCrunch. According to reports, the person being tagged won't get any sort of notification or indication that they have been tagged in a photo or video.

Snapchat has been busy adding a slew of other features over the last few weeks.
