Under the current model, 100 My Nintendo Gold Points are equal to $1 AUD. In August previous year a battery indicator problem took hours to fix, now the Switch has started forgetting how long you've played each game.

In February, Nintendo announced a new reward policy for buying games for Nintendo Switch.

The rate at which you earn coins has also been significantly increased, with each digital purchase netting you 5% of the original purchase cost in cents back in coins, and each physical redemption earning you 1% back, based on the price of the game on the eShop.

While games with DLC on Switch will earn you gold points, DLC on 3DS and Wii U titles will not.

The Nintendo Switch is one year old and nobody could have predicted just how successful it would be this early in its life cycle.

It's important to know that Gold Points will expire after 12 months on the last day of the month in which you earned them. So for a game that's $59.99, players will get 300 gold points or $3.

Gold Points can be used toward all eligible digital game and DLC purchases for the Nintendo Switch system, excluding automatic subscription renewals, service tickets and in-game items. These Gold Points are issued automatically, so players should never have to worry about doing anything extra beyond registering the game itself or downloading it.
